Living Math and (added a few pics of the day)

I have been thinking a lot about "living math". I am going to start adding links to books and other information I can find for this. We did read some "living" math books last year but I believe I will be taking this a little more seriously.

The links will be on the bottom right sidebar.

I have, in my possession, Math Dictionary, Math On Call, The I Hate Mathematics! Book, Math for Smarty Pants, Anno's Math Games III, (adding in the book Marvelous Multiplication: Games and Activities That Make Math Easy and Fun...Katie enjoys this and so do. It is very hands on), and I know I have a few others on my shelves. I believe this is a good start. ~smile~ (all of these were about 25 cents each and 1 may have been a dollar.) Sometimes I think God is putting all these books in my path knowing I can do something good with them/besides just reading.

Now I have to figure out how I want to put all this together with notebooking. The kids love the "fancy" notebook pages so I'll have to create some; these along with all the other ideas I have for other subjects. ~LOL~

I did see how others have done notebooking with their pictures they take. Usually I would add them at the end of the year for the portfolio. Now I'm thinking that I should get them printed off so the kids can write on their pages what happened in these pics before they forget.

I drive my husband crazy. He just says, can you please create these.or something to sell online and make a little money. Well, I want to do that but I also love to give things away.

Katie is sick (tell her that). She has a fever, cough, looks terrible but just cannot sit still. She's had fever meds., vicks on her feet, orange juice, lots of toast with earth balance and jelly. She looks so tired but she is all over the place! And the poor rabbit, she is hugging it a little too much.

Maybe I'll write later.

Have a good day.

Today continued...

First thing; does anyone have or know of an Easter tree to do? We really liked the Jesse Tree. I do not want to do resurrection eggs, again. Any ideas?

These are the math books I own as of this moment.

Ana has been giving me a hard time with phonics and reading lately. This afternoon I decided to try some notebooking pages. She sat right down. We worked on the sound 'oo' as in cook, look, book, and took. she she wrote out -ook and I wrote it in cursive. She then drew a picture for the word and wrote a sentence. She also wrote the word at the bottom of the page. She enjoyed this very much. She loves to color and draw so this was not a problem where Katie is the opposite. Many times she has cringed when I pulled out a coloring page.

These are pics. of our boys (from last night). Dereck is hiding from Pancake the rabbit. Pancake decided to visit them
Yes, the cage will be cleaned today. :) They get dirty so fast.

Poor Katie!! The kiddos were just sick and it was AWFUL. Thursday through yesterday; if they werent better by today, I was calling the ped tomorrow. But, thank God, all is well.

The math sounds great! I was never a math lover (until college, when a prof introduced me to the history and art of math... LOVED it). Good luck!
