A Little of This and A Little of That
This morning Tom is doing the Stanford Achievement Test. I'm praying he does well. He said his brother kept him up last night with all his snoring. We put him to bed early and I guess that was defeated. He was tired this morning. We will see what happens. Sometimes he's afraid to ask questions or he's afraid of getting something wrong so he just sits there. I hope this is not the case today.
Tomorrow Becca has an appointment with the neurologist. She has to write down everything that is going on with her not feeling well. She did tell me that she seems forgetful. She has to re-read things. That's not good.
Somethings have been going on which has me "down" and I opened my devotional last night to Matthew where it talks about not worrying about clothes, etc. Just what I needed. Also yesterday I got a call from a lady from church. There is a ladies night this week and she asked if myself and Becca are going. I had stated that I wanted to but didn't get my ticket yet and Becca probably cannot because of her sports class (she can't miss another night). Well, The lady told me that someone was willing to buy my ticket! Isn't that cool!? I was very happy. Another thing. We got a thank you card from another family from church with 2 $25 gift cards to a grocery store! That was well needed.
Gotta go get ready for the day. Hopefully it is warmer than yesterday...it was cold!
Have a great day.

Emergency Hospital Visit
This morning I had to take Becca to the Emergency room. She seemed to be having signs of a stroke! They did a CAT scan, MRA, MRA, and regular bloodwork. They all came back fine but the doctor thinks she is having complex migraines. I made an appt. with a neurologist... for May! We are praying that we can get an earlier one. I have to keep calling to see if there have been any cancellations. I'm so thankful that this doctor listened and was smart enough to do all these tests. They ruled out tumors. Becca has been having alot of health issues and it is starting to get me worried.
I need to relax. I have started reading a book called Praying the names of Jesus (I believe that's it). It is helping.
Maybe I'll write more later.

Some thoughts and Hershey Pics.
Today I was thinking. I worry to much about what people think about what the kids are learning. What I mean by this is, I teach the kids what they want to learn but then start worrying that it doesn't "pass" with other people's objectives. Like if we only do a little workpage (or read a few pages) about a king, I later start thinking that wasn't enough because the school district or others might think it wasn't enough. I know, who cares what they think. My children "are" learning and I need to remember that. Ugh, I need to stop worrying. I've been waking up in the middle of the night with this thought. I need to stop.
Also, I worry about Katie (I shouldn't be). I know she is really smart. Smarter than we all think. She hasn't done much "traditional" learning but I noticed that she is starting to spell and say the words. She did this the other night with 'God is good.' She spelled it out, out loud and than said the sentence. She did this while taking a bath. :0)
She can say all her shapes, colors, letters (can write them also), numbers up to 100 and knows the letter sounds. She seems to be getting mixed up with beginning and end. If I write out a word and show her the beginning, middle, and end letters she than understands it. She is very crafty. She made a submarine out of 2 paper towel tubes, colored electrical tape and some other recycled item. She did it without even seeing one...It looks like a submarine, too!
She absolutely can hardly sit still. She roller blades in the house almost all day. She does stop once in awhile to do a little bit of coloring, listen to a book, or do a very little bit of writing. She moves constantly but I/we refuse to give in and give medication. We don't know the outcome of giving these medications and we don't want something that might harm her in her later years and especially her childbearing years. She has stopped taking her vitamins. she refuses to take them so now I guess we will take a break from them. I'm not sure that is a good idea but I will not force them down her throat.
We haven't really done any art projects which I know we should but Tom doesn't like art very much. We are going to be making a Jaguar Mask (Aztecs) soon.
Tom does love history and Latin. He has started on Latina Christiana I and is reading 'Famous Men of Rome' along with it. He is also working on the Wars of the Roses. He reads and loves to be read to.
I am almost done reading book 4 (to Tom) of the Mr. Pipes Series by Douglas Bond so I need to find another good series like this. Any suggestions?
Becca is also having some health issues which really make me concerned. She's been to a doctor and has been put on medicine but she still isn't feeling well. She will be going to her regular doctor next week and I'm asking for some more tests.
Well, I guess I'm glad I wrote this because I am feeling some what better.
On another note, I'm so glad to have met Karen from church. (Our church is large). We met in the summer when she was very ill and needed some help. Becca went over a few times and after that we started talking and have become great friends. We just went away with other women, (2 very special friends I do not see much of anymore), to the Hershey Hotel and had an excellent time. I have never gone away without kids or my husband at the same time!!
Karen has a special needs son and she understands some of the things that I am going through with Katie. She's outspoken which is helping me to talk more. I don't know what has happened to me but I have been feeling like I've closed up a bit. I have so much energy I need to get out of my system! Watch out Ed!
Gotta go...have much to do, like laundry. Yuck!
