Last night Ed, and 3 of the kids got to go to a professional hockey game. Well, my daughter calls me to tell me that Tom is scared to death. He is so afraid of heights and their seats were extremely high up. He was panicking. My poor husband ending up standing downstairs with him and didn't really get to see the game! They also said that a few men started fighting right behind them and every word was............! Even the people in front of them were cursing! Tom also said it was way to loud. I feel like a horrible mommy because I know he doesn't like loud sounds and when he was younger he would scream in places like the warehouse stores. It didn't even cross my mind. He thought he was in a boom box.
Noah's mom, Kate, had her little girl yesterday. Everything went well. Thanks to anyone who prayed for them.
Back to homeschooling...we have to continue with our "dragons".

January 29, 2008
Please pray for Kate today. (She is the mother of Noah...I've asked for prayer for him before). She is in the hospital getting ready to give birth to her 8th child. Please ask for peace and calmness for her (and her husband). Also, she is being give pitosin so I'm going to ask for a speedy delivery....Thanks so much.

JANUARY 28, 2008
Just a little note. If you have watched 'Over the Hedge' than you know about Stella. Well we may have 'Stella' living under our back deck. Every once and awhile we have a scent of skunk. Not alot but just enough to let us know there is something there. Ed will be putting down some flour to see if it is true...to see if there are footprints at night. We have had some of our trash pulled apart....after the boys were told to take it to the trashcan and they "forgot". I'm hoping there isn't any 'Stella' there, I don't know how we will get her out without full-blown smell!
We had a good day today. As always we did our devotions. We are using the KJV Bible with Volume 1 A Family Devotional Guide by Crown Christian Publications; Heartwarming Hymn Stories by Lindsay Terry; Family Time Story Devotions By Edlon Weisheit; and tomorrow will be our last day using: You Can Change the World by Jill Johnstone (The Children's version of Operation World.). They have loved this book so I might try and put something together for Tom to do a quick lapbook or something of the sort. We had been using the 'Mr. Pipes' series by Douglas Bond but I have to order the last book. Excellent series...I may have said that in an earlier post. :) I'm going to add the book 'Boys and Girls Who Became Great Missionaries' by John Theodore Mueller, after tomorrow.
We started our paper mache' projects today. Becca is doing a fairy, while Tom and I are doing dragons. Right now mine looks like a viking boat. :) It should look better when I add the wings and legs/feet. (I am taking pictures).
Katie did do a page of math...she's only 4 1/2 so I'm not expecting much. She's the one who wants to do it. She has been doing very well with her alphabet and the sounds. She only has trouble with the sounds of x,c/k, g/j. Ana has been saying her alphabet alot and does count some. She wanted to "write" today so she just got paper and pencil and did her little lines. Tom is getting much better at math. I would say by next year he will have no problem with BJU 5th grade math. Right now we are just using 'The Complete Bk. of Math' that you can get in the stores. I think it explains each type of math problem very well.
A friend of mine from a Christian Homeschool Forum sent me a flyer she made up for some types of birth control causing early abortions. I have believed this for a long time but I wanted to see her flyer. It is very well written: In it she has "If life begins at conception, then this is an abortion"...meaning, what these bc options do is to stop the fertilized eggs from implanting in the uterus. So, that fertilized egg, that baby, never had a chance. I think we need to take a really good look at what we are doing to our bodies and to the unborn. People seem to think children are a nuisance, or more than 2 is way to many BUT, God doesn't. He says to be fruitful and multiply. Children are such a gift and we treat them like they are a plaque. Yes, people have said things to me that have not been very nice, but I (we are happy) with the many children we have. I can't even imagine not having one of them. We need to listen to God not man. In this day and age people are wanting more to save animals and plants before saving a child. So, if anyone would like one of these flyers I'm sure I could ask my friend to send me one for you.
I have to say that I have been thinking alot about the above because I have read quite a few blogs lately .... these wonderful women are carrying children with Trisomy 18...The baby usually passes away very shortly after birth. They have chosen to give this child life...even if it is just for a few minutes. To us that seems like no time but to God it means alot more. Also, I have been reading the Confessions of a CF Husband blog and this young couple now have a beautiful baby,....with the mom having Cystic Fibrosis. They have given a child a wonderful chance at life. God can do marvelous things with this child. If only all the people thinking of abortion would really find out the truth of what happens when they do that. And, how blessed they would be if they gave that child life.

Anger
This day started with our youngest getting up at least one hour before the sun and deciding it was time to go potty. She had her diaper off and she got to the potty faster than I could comprehend. :) She did go though. I can't wait to get rid of these diapers. Afterwards she followed her daddy downstairs and decided to touch a hot iron. Ouch! Daddy got her to the sink so fast her hand never had a chance to get red. She's fine but I'm hoping and praying that she will never do that again.
I've been pretty much sitting still because I twisted my back yesterday. I got up from sitting at the computer really fast and then twisted. Boy, did that hurt. Now, the kids have me where they want me; sitting still. I've enjoyed it though. My son started the snow lapbook from www.handsofachild.com. We've been really enjoying it but we do need to get snow for two of the activities. It's been predicted and than changed....that drives me crazy! Anyway, it is nice. the next one we will be doing is the deer lapbook. I have been starting to think of lapbook ideas for the Terrestria series. My son has been doing folds for vocabulary/spelling words from the books. I do need to get a pdf maker...it would be much easier.
ANGER: This morning I was looking at blogs and came across one where a comment was posted about it being ok to be angry at God. I thought about that answer and know that it is not ok to be angry at God. I do believe it is ok to ask why things are or did happen the way they did. (For anything in life...death, etc....) But, I believe God does not ever have to give us answers to that question: why. We have to trust him. I think that is the time we should really rely on God's word (actually, we should always rely on His word). So while I had to sit still, I did alot of searching for Bible verses (KJV Bible) and found MANY about anger which can also led to hatred, jealousy, covetousness, envy, etc...
Proverbs 14:17; 14:29; 15:1; 16:32; 19:19; 22:24; 25:28; 29:22; 30:33
Colossians 3:8-10
Titus 1:7
Ephesians 4:26
James 1:19-20; 4:14-16
I am Glad that I did look up these verses...it really made me think about anger, jealousy etc... It can make you miserable and everyone around you miserable. I think this can go along with part of the verse I wrote the other day, Psalm 19:14. To be careful of the 'meditation of my heart'.

DEVOTIONS AND MINISTRY JAN. 24, 2008
I started 'A 30-Day Walk With God in the Psalms by Nancy Leigh DeMoss. I really like it. I probably will not do the writing but I will say everything out loud. One problem I have (if it is a problem), is that I like to keep reading the devotion books like a regular book. I could do a few devotions at a time. Believe it or not, but my teen daughter recommended it to me. She is awesome! Now, this verse I have written out right in front of the computer . Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer. I sometimes find myself mumbling under my breath if someone says something to me that I do not like. It is not all the time but on my "grumpy" days. It happens when I have not slept well or if the kids are not behaving (which can be quite often :( ). If the kids hear me mumbling they could start doing it and I don't want them to be that way. I want them to be able to see me accepting things in a lady-like manner...smiling with a happy heart.
On Sunday night we had ministry night. We had a chance to go to all the tables that were set up and check out the different ministries in our church. I actually chose to work with the handicapped and also the toddler department. Boy, I'm so nervous about the handicapped dept. But, if I mess up, they will probably not care....they are like children in an adult body so I have to remember that also. I get very nervous (shy) around groups of people so this will be a challenge for me. Now the toddler dept. is a different story. I love to do crafts and reading...I don't have a good singing voice but I do believe if my dd is in there with me she will help out. :) I need to find some verses to help me with these depts. I have already started praying for them. Ed, of course, is working with the bus ministry. He is now a driver. Being a bus pastor was hard because it takes alot of time to visit everyone. I think when our little ones are older it will be easier. This way they can go on the bus and maybe we all can do this together. He does want to start a route in our neighborhood so I pray it happens. A few of the older kids do work on them also.
Back to schooling. Remember this verse for yourself also (fill in the blank with YOUR name):
Psalm 19:14
Let the Words of __________mouth, and the meditation of _____________ heart, be acceptable in they sight, O Lord, ________________'s strength, and _____________'s redeemer.

Lapbook movie
This lapbook was from http://www.homeschoolshare.com/ . Also, I believe it was created by a blogger Just call me Jamin, BUT at the moment I don't know how to link this to her.? (I'm still new in the blogger world ~smile~ ). It isn't finished being glued together but it gives you an idea of how my son did it... The creation book isn't there or the Apostle's Creed and maybe one more thing. Oh, as she had stated on her site, whether the story about the song is true or not, I also found it to be a great tool in teaching Tom about the Bible. We discussed our faith and what other denominations believe. He enjoyed it very much.
I hope you get ideas from this.

Emotional Day (Week)
First I would like to say that I just read the update to Madeline's blog and she has past away. She was 3. I had just started reading about her I'd say a week or two ago. This makes me very sad (tearing up here), but happy because I know this little one is in heaven with Jesus AND she has no more pain. Also, I checked Noah's blog and he is back in the hospital. Please pray for this family...his mom is going to have a beautiful little girl soon.
Today we went shopping early because they were calling for snow so off we went. I went to one store where the shredded cheese decided to break all over my cart and a can of orange juice decided to leak. Afterwards, we went to another store and I had asked for cash back. Thinking it was in my hand with the receipts the store clerk handed me, I left. I got to the van and realized I didn't have the $20.00. I went back in and told her .... as she looked at me like I was lying...so she had to close up her lane and go into the "locked room" to count her money. I started to cry. It might seem silly, but to me, $20.00 is sometimes alot of money especially if you lose it and you're on a tight budget. The clerk came out with the $20.00 (Thank you Lord!) and told me "Thank you...I would have gotten into alot of trouble if they found out you didn't get your money." Also, yesterday while stopping at the grocery store (the first of my 2 day shopping), I smacked my head on the hanging scale...it was right level with my head. (I did want to laugh out loud). THEN, I walked to the flour aisle and dropped flour all over my cart.
The best thing that happened this week was on Sunday. Sunday night we bought some gift certificates from our church bookstore and some books. The bill came to $55.14. Afterwards, we went home and my husband opened up an envelope that was addressed to him....a check for $55.00!!!! God is so good....he knew we could use that and he supplied it right away!
Psalm 145:3 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.
We are finally getting snow!! It is beautiful. I took some pics. of the kids (and dog)...I will post later.

HAIR LOSS
Today had started out very quiet. Becca went off to her math, music and volunteer work...she leaves very early in the morning with her dad. They go and have coffee and breakfast together every week. They did bring home a cappuccino for me. ~smile~
(this is why I named the title Hair Loss) At this moment, the two little ones handed me 'Diesel', their train from the Thomas the Tank set. It has a nice 'lock' of human hair twisted around the wheel. Hmmm, I better check heads. Well, it is definitely from the youngest (2).
The hair won't come out of the wheel so I guess this is a job for Daddy.
I did have my dr. appt. yesterday. I was given an anti-inflammatory and I have to do exercises. If it's not better in 2 wks. I have to call. Not to sound negative but I don't think it will be better. This knee has been given me trouble for a long time. Ed really wanted me to get the MRI but it's not going to happen yet.
I'm going to try and post a picture of the 12 days of Christmas lapbook my son just finished. I found it on www.homeschoolshare.com. or www.homeschoolonline.com. If not I will write the correct link. I do like these two sites though. We are now putting together a lapbook for spelling words Tom gets from the Terrestria Chronicles.
That's it for now...kids are calling. Have a great day....I do pray for anyone who reads these blogs.

Prayer Request
If anyone is reading this I'm going to ask for prayers for Nate, Tricia and Gweneth www.cfhusband.blogspot.com
They are a wonderful family that I just came to learn about recently.
Also, I have an appointment today to get my knee checked. I'm walking around but by night time it starts to hurt going up and down the steps. Let's just say that the past Sunday night it was extreme pain...I usually do not complain..I try to keep it to myself but that time I couldn't.
This was just a fast post, at this moment toys are being thrown across the floor and magic markers are coming out...time to go before something has new color.

Obstacles in Life
Today was the start of a new homeschool week and of course it began with a doctor's visit. My Katie had to get a staple out of her head, I had to get a new epi-pen for the youngest and had to make appointments for other children and now myself. Yesterday I jumped down out of the van and my knee decided to go. Oh great...now I have to go back and probably get an MRI. Quite a few months ago I was diagnosed with degenerative arthritis so there is definitely a problem starting there. I feel I have no time for this. A mom is not to get sick or hurt. Can my home run with me down and out? hmmm....I do like the idea of being waited on...cappuccino's from Wawa, and not having to do dishes or laundry. I guess we'll take it day by day and see what happens.
Back to homeschooling. I would like to recommended two series that we have enjoyed. The Mr. Pipes Series by Douglas Bond. We have read 3 out of 4 books and have enjoyed them so much. My son is now reading (independently) The Terrestria Chronicles (very christian)~ by Ed Dunlop...excellent. He just now finished #4 and can't wait for the next. I do believe there are 7 books in the series. This now has a study guide to go with it (Ed bought it for him the other night at church) and we will be going over it soon. It has questions to answer and crafts etc....I would like to make a paper mache' dragon or serpent with Tom.
My daughter is reading everything. She doesn't like to "do textbooks" but loves books. She is reading, To Be a Doctor, Lady of Palenque: Flower of Bacal Meso America AD 749, Francis and Edith Schaffer, Bruchko (19 yr. old American Christian, Christianizing the stone age tribe), A Sparrow Alone, Johnstown Flood, and Writing From A to Z (English) AND, A Young Woman's Walk with God: Growing More Like Jesus. Whew! She is also trying to write a report about Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma (Tumor/Cancer). Now if we can just pronounce this we'll be good. ~smile~ The reason why she wants to write about this is that a little girl (Gracie) we know and love has this. By the way, I saw her yesterday and she was running around and enjoy life as we all should. Nothing seems to get in her way.
I would also like to recommend a cd....Creator of it All by The Steve Pettit Evangelistic Team. It is excellent...
Hopefully I can soon figure out how to link to other sites on the internet so you can just click to my recommendations. I am also trying to figure out how to get a slide show on here (it's not working....). I'd like to show some lapbooks.
P.S. I'm not much of a writer so we will see how this blogging goes. ~smile~

Psalm 31:1
In thee O Lord, do I put my trust;......Psalm 31:1
Today is church. My husband is already on the church bus with some of our kids picking up others. He loves this ministry. I'll be missing Bible study because of the younger have a very runny nose. I will be going to the church service, though. Already this morning I've been thinking of /and I've been checking up on blogs and e-mails of familys who have lost their husbands, have ill children and one who's wife is waiting for a double lung transplant (they gave birth to a beautiful little girl at 25 wks). I'll be thinking of all of them during church and will pray for them. To name a few: Noah, Gracie, Madeline, Jayden, Nate/Tricia/Gweneth Rose, Joe/Kendra/new boys, Tina, and Dawn. They are in my thoughts always. Have a beautiful day and enjoy your families.
Today is church. My husband is already on the church bus with some of our kids picking up others. He loves this ministry. I'll be missing Bible study because of the younger have a very runny nose. I will be going to the church service, though.
