My Day: UPDATE

I had a chance to go to the thrift store, by myself, and I bought beautiful Martha Stewart Christmas shatterproof ornaments for .25 a box and 2 boxes of large for about .75! They are beautiful...purple, silver, turquoise, blue...some that sparkle. Now I can't wait for next year!

I found a few books also. For Ana: Album of Horses by Marguerite Henry, Katie got a math book (yeah, boring), Tom made out the best: Question and Answer Encyclopedia 'THE USA" (very nice), How to get into the Bible (Yes, he likes that), and Vocabulary Cartoons and Picture These SAT Words! He will have the vocab. books read in no time at all.

Ed will be taking me out later. I'm looking for some new picture frames (ours are so old). I want to print out alot of new pictures I've taken and frame them for the living room. I may even decorate our bedrooms with family pictures. I think it would be nice for the kids to look back at the fun days they had at the beach, during our walks, and sledding. I like that instead of going out and buying pictures with no meaning.

Time to go.

My Day

Today I will be getting things put together for school. I have some changes to make. Tom hasn't really done any Bible so we will be adding "Days of Discovery" dvds. We have gotten them in the mail for quite some time but haven't opened many of them. So, we will add about 1/2 hour a day of these. The few that we have watched are very good.

Tom does like to watch educational videos and then he writes a report or a few paragraphs about them. This is good because he doesn't have an actually teacher to take notes from.

I did want to buy the Pilgrim's Progress Curriculum from www.answersingenesis.org but Ed thought it was to much money. $59.99...I think that is good. Tom watched the newer movie and loved it. He also watched the animated "Dangerous Journey" and enjoyed that also. Maybe I could talk Ed in to it. If you have used it let me know your thoughts.

I have to get more writing in for Tom. He is doing latin, and 2 spanish curriculums. The one is on the computer so it doesn't really require writing. He seems to pick up languages very well. I have to get moving on the lapbooks. I found the Periodic Table lapbook at www.homeschoolshare.com and we may do that. I have to order the book "Fizz, Bubble, Flash".

We have a Chemistry set here but I need a little help from Ed getting the water into the little containers. I mess up all the time. ~blush~

I have been using the games from Facebook to help Katie with math. She adds and subtracts with Fishlife and Fishworld!! LOL!! She loves it. I have started showing her place values with the points.

I'm very disappointed with Tom's math. He has such a hard time with this. It is not his subject at all.. He's probably going to be a missionary/pastor that speaks many different languages!!

I think we will work on the girls' fairy wings today. Becca had helped me (did most of the work) with the headdresses (crowns).

Time to get moving. I've been on this computer way to long already.

Love Ya,
Margarete
P.S. Katie and Ana say, "HI POP POP AND BANGI!!!!!" WE LOVE YOU!!!! ANA SAYS SHE IS PLAYING WITH HER HORSEYS (SP???) AND BARN AND GATE. KATIE SAYS SHE IS PLAYING WITH HER HOUSE. BYE BYE!!

fairy (princess) headdress

I got all the craft materials out that I bought before Christmas and Becca made the headdresses for the girls. They turned out really nice. Next we will be fixing their fairy wings. The dollar store wings rip to easily. Pictures of the wings will be later.

Dollhouse, Barn and Other Things

THE GIRLS PLAYINGUNCLE BOBAUNT CATHY

OUR BEN
Today I 've been thinking about how we are going to decorated the dollhouse and do other things with the barn. I want to have separate times with Katie and Ana. I went online looking for dollhouse wallpaper and found a site with many different links. My dad also told me about a store not to far away from here. This will be very good for Katie because she doesn't play with toys much. But, she loves this house. I'm not sure if we should fix the roof first or work on the inside. At least the roof won't leak! We also have to decide if we want to just keep popping the windows in or glue them.

I was looking at horse "stuff" and I would like us to get creative. Ana and I can look for some cheap material, probably at the thrift store, for horse blankets. These projects should be a lot of fun.

I would also like to make a folding play board for the fairies. I have some ideas already. :)

This week I will try and get lapbooking stuff together.

One more thing. My son Tom (12), has handed me $20 from his Christmas money and told me to use it for food or whatever. He won't take it back. How thoughtful is that??

I'm going to go sit with Ed now. I think he needs some company. :)

I'll write again soon.

Sunday

Have a wonderful Sunday! I'm enjoying every moment of Christmas. I didn't want to get up today...I actually think I was snoring! The girls are enjoying their gifts. Aunt Cathy and Uncle Bobby visited yesterday bringing a "terrific" game. It is "Whack A Mole". Katie was whacking that thing forever last night and then started this morning. Ohhh.............
Off to church. Enjoy this beautiful day!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These are the fairies I made and colored for Katie and Ana.
I decorated the lids of the photo boxes with scrapbooking paper and letters. Laminated these onto the lid and then put each flower on with a flower brad. I covered the inside of the lid with a plain color piece of paper so they can't take them apart.
